Photos from a new space telescope show Neptune and its rings gleaming.

Neptune and its rings haven’t looked this great in many years.

NASA delivered new charm shots of our planetary group’s furthest planet Wednesday, taken by the James Webb Space Telescope. The photos taken in July show not exclusively Neptune’s slim rings, but its weak residue groups, until recently never seen in the infrared, as well as seven of its 14 known moons.

Webb showed Jupiter at its best in a progression of new photographs delivered a month ago.

The $10 billion Webb, launched less than a year ago, is focusing its efforts on looking much further into the universe.Stargazers desire to see back to practically the dawn of history, when the main stars and worlds were shaped.

NASA’s Explorer 2 was the first rocket to see Neptune in quite a while of vaporous greatness during a 1989 flyby. No other rocket has visited the cold, blue planet. So it’s been thirty years since stargazers last saw these rings with such detail and lucidity, said the Space Science Foundation’s Heidi Hammel, a planetary cosmologist working with Webb.

Hammel tweeted that she sobbed when she saw the rings, shouting and making “my children, my mother, even my felines look.”

The Webb is the world’s greatest and most impressive telescope, working 1 million miles (1.6 million kilometers) from Earth. It soared into space last December.

The observatory is healthy, as per NASA, with the exception of one thing.

NASA revealed this week that a system on one of Webb’s instruments gave indications of expanded grating before the end of last month in one of four noticing modes. As a survey board decides on a course of action, perceptions are waiting in this one specific noticing track.
